ARBS Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) Product Initiative Award 2010

This award focuses on Environmentally Sustainable Design that demonstrates innovation or technical advancement with the potential to significantly reduce the effect either directly or indirectly, upon the environment.  Judging will be based on practical evidence from end users.

Application evaluation will consider sustainability, energy efficiency, water saving, air quality, carbon emissions, innovation and potential commercial success.

Entry Criteria:

• Must be a proven working product and commissioned within the last 3 years
• Products  can be fully operational, a component part, mechanical aid, diagnostic tool, computer software, controls or service related tools etc
• Applicant to provide end user and or scientifically tested endorsements where possible

Other information:

• Full name, address and contact details of nominee
• When it was released onto the Australian market
• Provide contact details of an independent testimonial such as end user/owner
• Include permission from the product owners to enter into the competition
• In one typed page provide an executive summary of what makes this product stand out and why, including its significance to the HVAC & R industry
• What was the driving force behind the development of the product? (needs, objectives)
• What needs were recognised and how were they met?
• Describe the product and its use and purpose/s,  any special design or operating features (technology, innovation, efficiencies)
• How the product was delivered (innovation, resources, collaboration)
• How did it solve a problem and overcome challenges (innovation, technologies and/or techniques)?
• Measurability/resources saved; the value of innovation/sustainability
• Provide evidentiary information of performance (preferably by end users)
• Where possible, provide details of how the results demonstrated by the product have been measured to verify the claimed performance (include appropriate standards where possible)
• Describe the actual and/or potential commercial success of this product
• What is the impact on the environment, industry, regulation and or the community?
• Attach supporting materials. This may include photos or a video of the ESD product or other special features
