Critical Design Parameters for Kitchen Exhaust Filtration Design
Jonathan Bunge, National Product Manager

The requirement to effectively filter kitchen exhaust discharge to a non-objectionable effluent is increasing due to health concerns and odour complaints. Research out of the New York has shown that in the past emissions from barbeque grills have been the sole attributor to 400 deaths annually, and these commercial kitchens in 2011 contributed more PM2.5 pollution than motor vehicles. Filtering kitchen exhaust may no longer be solely an aesthetic or comfort issue.  This presentation looks at kitchen exhaust filtration design and discusses current Australian Standards compared with current benchmark practices worldwide – proposing critical design parameters using first principle analysis.

1:00 – 1:30pm – Kenelec Scientific

Positive and Negative Duct Accreditation System (PANDA)
Jim Schumacher, Product Specialist, TSI Incorporated

The PANDA from TSI / Airflow Instruments is a mobile test system that measures and quantifies leakages in ductwork and other areas. It is an automated system providing fast and accurate quantitative results that are compliant to regulatory requirements. The system performs automatic calculations and does not require “plate change” or other arduous manual, time consuming actions. This makes leak testing and system performance easy and automated.
