ARBS 2012 Speaker Profile: Roger Kluske
The relationship between tenant and landlord has always been strained – it seems the property industry has an ingrained “win/lose” mentality where we sometimes pride ourselves on our ability to “bash up” our opponents.

But times are changing. Guaranteed environmental performance – in the form of mandatory building disclosure, Green Star and NABERS ratings – is required for most new and many existing buildings. This is going to force a paradigm shift in how landlords and tenants interact. If we adopt a spirit of cooperation we can all be winners, including the environment.

This presentation will cover:
1. The requirements of NABERS and Green Star from both a base building and tenant perspective
2. The potential conflict and clash in achieving the obligations of both base building and tenant
3. The benefits for all parties in creating an alliance to share knowledge and improve performance.
Roger has a background in Sustainable Design of new buildings and refurbishing existing buildings to achieve sustainable outcomes for both government and private sector. He has gained a wealth of experience in operational management of existing / sustainable buildings and developments and sustainable policy, strategy and guidelines.
Roger is an Accredited Green Star Professional and Certified Assessor NABERS. He is Victorian President of AIRAH (Australian Institute of Refrigeration Air-conditioning and Heating) and was Member International Committee and Chair of the Public Policy Stream for the World Sustainable Building Conference - SB08 Melbourne.
Roger has written more than 20 strategic papers, he is a regular presenter at forums and seminars and guest lectures in ESD to engineering students at a number of Universities.
Roger championed the requirement that all new Victorian government office buildings meet stringent Green Star and NABERS energy ratings.

Celebrate as ARBS inducts eight to the Hall of Fame

Winners of the esteemed ARBS 2012 Industry Awards will be announced at the Gala Presentation Dinner. Attracting the who’s who of the industry and hosted by Shane Jacobson – award winning actor, presenter and star of Kenny, Charlie and Boots and Top Gear Australia, this prestigious industry night includes the Awards Presentation and Gala Dinner, and the induction of eight nominees into the ARBS Hall of Fame, in recognition of their significant contribution to the industry.

This years’ anticipated event will be held at the Savoy Ballroom, Grand Hyatt Hotel on Tuesday 8 May.

Tables of 10 are available and individual or small group bookings are also welcome. Ticket prices are $170 per person or $1600 for a table of 10.
