SM14: Woolworths Preston’s integrated transcritical CO2 RAC system - 12 months on

The above site was the first in Woolworths’ supermarket fleet to feature an integrated refrigeration, space cooling and space heating system. Furthermore, the system uses transcritical CO2 technology hence is completely free of synthetic refrigerants (i.e. HFCs) and free from requirement of gas-fired boilers for space heating. Woolworths Prestons is one the first large format supermarkets in the southern hemisphere to feature a direct emissions-free RAC system.

12 months from store opening we can now analyse and share summer and winter temperature control performance, energy benchmarking and lessons learnt.
