SS02: Using IoT solutions for remote monitoring of small commercial refrigeration systems

A project supported by Sustainability Victoria used IoT technology to comprehensively monitor the cycle operation and energy use of 50 small refrigeration units installed on sites across Victoria.  Access to highly granular data over several months, provided insights into a range of faults and operational issues normally not visible to owners or technicians. Learnings from the observations and the process will be reported, both in relation to the value of monitoring as a tool to improve the reliability and efficiency of small commercial refrigeration systems, and the nature of issues experienced on the monitored units. The session will be of interest to refrigeration technicians and to owners of small refrigeration units.
